Cognitive Aging

During the summer of 2015, I was funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to conduct research as an undergraduate at University of Richmond. With this grant, I was able to study cognitive changes associated with aging. I ran participants, ranging from ages 18 to 82, through an eye-tracker machine, administered eye exams, and questionnaires. Following the study, I assisted in data input and analysis through SPSS. The aftermath of this research is still ongoing.

I was able to create a poster demonstrating our efforts, and presented our research at the Arts & Science Symposium at University of Richmond and the Cognitive Aging Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Being involved in research as an undergraduate gave me a greater insight into how I want to contribute to a broader community. Presenting my poster further invoked my desire for communicating research.
